Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-07-15
First Cubby ("we", "us") helps parents research and compare preschools and daycares. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We collect as little as we can and never sell your data.
What we collect
- Account. When you create an account or sign in, our authentication provider (Clerk) stores your email address and a unique account ID.
- What you enter in the app. A child's first name and age, your home location or ZIP (used to find nearby schools and distances), and the shortlist, notes, ratings, tour dates, and deadlines you save.
- Photos. Any photos you upload for a school are stored privately and shared only with members of your household.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand which pages are visited (Google uses cookies; Cloudflare is aggregate and cookieless).
How we use it
To provide the service — show local schools, save your shortlist, share a board with a co-parent you invite, and improve the site. AI features inside the app process public school information to summarize approaches; they do not receive your identity.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run the product: Clerk (sign-in), Google (Analytics; Maps/Places for school photos and search), Cloudflare (hosting and analytics), and Anthropic (AI features). We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising. Your board is shared only with household members you invite.
Children
First Cubby is a tool for parents and caregivers. A child's first name and age are entered by a parent for their own planning; we do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13.
Your choices
You can view or delete the information in your account from within the app, or contact us to delete your account and data. You can opt out of Google Analytics with a browser opt-out.
Data retention & security
We keep account data while your account is active and delete it on request. Data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure with industry-standard protections. No storage method is perfectly secure.
